The little boy and his jar of lightening bugs(Enjoy the background and the music in this poem)
The little boy and his jar of lightening bugs
Written by D.A.M
05-08-07

In the summer time
when school was out
the little boy
would always look forward
to the sun going down

Don't get me wrong
because he also enjoyed
the day time too

But in all reality his
favorite time of the day
would be at night
when he would be able to
see a glimpse or two
of lightening bugs flying by
and when ever he did see them
his eye brows would raise
and he would start laughing
with a huge smile on his face

Because this was truly his favorite time to play
because this is when he would get ready
for another night time adventure
of catching lightening bugs

Every night he felt like
he was going on a wonderful mission
and he would grab a  net in one hand
and he would grab a jar in the other
and then he would start running around
looking for lightening bugs
because he knew that there would be many to be found

And every time when he would start chasing them
it was like he was in his own little fantasy world
and every time when he would
catch another lightening bug
he would always look really close
to see if he actually found a fairy
because he had an absolutely incredible imagination

It really didn't matter to him
if it was a fairy or a lightening bug
because the whole experience was so exciting
and he was having the time of his life

When he finally had a full jar
of lightening bugs
he would take them
to  his room
and he would put his jar
of lightening bugs
right next to his bed
and his mom and dad would come into his room
and tuck him in bed really tight
to tell him goodnight
and they would both kiss him
before they turned out the lights

As the little boy laid his head down on his pillow
he would constantly  stare at the lightening bugs in the jar
that he had right next to his bed
and this was when his imagination went wild
because he knew before to much longer
that he would fall asleep
and start dreaming again
and the little boy would go into his
own little fantasy land in his dreams
and every lightening bug that he caught that night
would come to life
and they would turn into magical fairies
that would entertain him all through the night
so that he could giggle and laugh
while he was asleep.

And this is the reason why
every night was a magical moment for him.
