this ongoing life
In all this time we call life
Is there nothing but toil and strife
Can we look for so much more
Or is this all we can strive for
What future is there beyond the stars
Where time is no longer relevant
Is there an Other side
Where we can peacefully reside
What hope is there for us to believe
When this life holds us down in grey
What wondrous promises are there
For tomorrow and for today
I get so fed up of going round in a circle
Not knowing where I am
Why can't I just have the answers
So I can call an end to this twirl
To have a settled mind,
To know without losing sleep
Having that inner knowledge so deep
That is too much I find
So back to the drawing board
To learn and listen some more
Hear what other people are saying
And not find it too much of a bore
Because they churn out the same old, same old
With no understanding of what they say or mean
Am I just being prejudiced
Or am I just over keen
Keen to know the reasons for this life,
Perhaps one day I'll find out,
Come sun or rain I'll have some answers
To settle my overworked brain
