 FATHER    LAND

The reports were quite explicit
Though many didn't care
They came via the news
I would just sit and stare
My heart it was broken
My memories trashed
My will was determined
All hopes to be dashed
But did they beware
No they didn't really care
The devastation
The torment
The agonising war
Right across the country
The bedlam it tore
My memories stretched
To a bright sunny day
Many years ago
Yes one special day
It was when I first glimpsed
The land of my Father
A land he would have remembered at peace
