Mosel River

(Fur die Familie Dernst - Schon Danke)

Mosel River keeps on flowing
In its own steady way.
I watch it for a while
Nearly every here day.
The vines stand in rows
Reaching down the hill,
A regiment of greenery
Parade ground still.

Herr Dernst sits in Mesenich,
The centre of his clan;
Each year I pay respects
To this well respected man.

Monica's laughter flows around,
A dear friend always there
In this place we all love
This very special somewhere.

Franz makes me welcome,
A companion as well as friend.
Together we've talked to
Many a wine bottle's end.

Jacqueline is in America
Happily married to her John,
But I still see her in my mind
So she's not really gone.

Marcel is near full grown;
Christian a young man now;
The years have flown away,
I don't know where or how.

The breeze down the valley
Makes me feel a little colder.
I know where those years have gone.
I've grown just that much older.
I watch it for a while
Nearly every here day;
Mosel River keeps on flowing
In its own steady way.
