I looked at you and saw Heaven
Lo and behold, a world untouched
unseen and forbidden
a world in which my fingertips
grasped, hungering and hoping to explore
I looked at you and saw Hope
dreams collided with fantasies
and I engulfed myself in the beauty of its entirety
I looked at you and saw my Vision
delicately placing my soul into your overstretched arms
hearing the faint whispering of my conscience
telling me to let my inhibitions be borne away
and so they flew
I looked at you and saw Paradise
letting my spirit rest at ease
ignoring the fact that you could never be mine
wading in the quixotic whims of an existance
between you and I
where Poetry kissed Pageantry
and metamorphosed into something true
I looked at you and pretended
that we would be together...eventually
and the pain and guilt would not surface
because you once said everyone
deserved the benefit of the doubt
I looked at you and became captivated
with the mere thought of me being beautiful in your eyes
and when you kissed me and held me tight
I knew I would never be the same
I looked at you and saw
MY EVERYTHING
Would've given you all of me
my smiles, tears, and the breath of all my life
would never amount
to way it felt to be wanted
by you
I looked at you and lingered on the idea of
"And They Lived Happily Ever After"
I looked at you and saw HEAVEN
yet I never stopped to notice that
you looked at me
And saw Nothing
