And This Too Shall Pass (Prose)By: Kelvalyn Arbizu january 2, 2008 I thought I had it figured out: knew life and what it was all about. Had the answers to each riddle, yes. Never studied but I passed each test…Didn't have to think too hard or long about any mystery or if I was wrong because previous assumptions always turned into truths. But now, since I no longer have you, nothing makes sense; and so, I sit living in regret and hoping to forget everything that I will have to miss: the love, the hugs, your smell and kiss. Now, I admit that I am lost…I knew the danger, yet dared the cost and now, at times, it's a little depressing that I am stuck with second-guessing if you will ever return to me with open arms and a remedy to these paradigms and silly whims…and the question of, “will I get over him???” The days are sad, the nights are cold. “This too Shall pass.” That's what I'm told. My emotions are mold and so, I'm fishing for the feeling until I'm no longer missing my my Everything. Oh, how my heart sings that unchained melody, that familiar ring that will sound inside my soul until my fanciful fantasies are finally filled with the laughter and joy produced by your eyes. I sit here subtly silencing my cries and I pretend as if we never were because I was left with nothing when you chose her… Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
