She never understood

She waited every day for him
as she stood next to the sea shore
Hoping and praying
that he would
come back to her some day
Unfortunately
he never did
She spent the remainder of her life
unable to understand
why he had never returned
Because he was the first
and the last man
that she had ever loved
Many years had gone by
since that day
when she kissed him goodbye
as she watched him cast out at sea
There was always a glimpse of hope
that he would come back to her some day
But he never did
come back again
She spent the rest of her life time
waiting for him
One day many years later
she had died loving him till the end
When she passed away
he was the first one to greet her
on the other side in Heaven
Because he had made a promise to her
several years before when he had gone off to sea
That he would always
love her eternally
