The sweet scent of rose that wafted above me
Heavenly peels from hand-pulled bells rang out in song
Pink petals held hands with the soft breeze
This day had been waited for so long
Hats of every colour with trims of lace and feather
Topped outfits becoming of a lady and queen
Gents with starched collars and bow ties
Pinstriped trousers and black shoes with sheen
The oak door opened and she stood there resplendent
In an ivory gown that touched her every curve
Two pageboys and four maids in attendance
A small army of ushers with orders to serve
Rings exchanged and vows they had promised
United they would stand no matter what
Good health, hard times or marital squabbles
Days when tempers were embroiled and hot
Loves last word will secure those feelings
A lifetime of understanding rests at their feet
Without each other, living would be futile and hopeless
A solitary amble down Loneliness Street
