More Than A Teacher

More than a teacher, more than a guide,
more than a counselor, more than just a helper ---

You've also a Friend to me, You're Someone who I want to spend the rest of
my life with,

More than a doctor, more than a judge, more than just a loving leader,

You're Someone who loves us very dearly and just want us to draw closer to
You,

Now I'm not asking You for the world, neither am I asking You for riches,
family, glory, or glamor for all of these things rightfully belong to You!

Neither am I asking You to spare me from the many disappointments of life
especially since this life is not about me!

I am asking You to please admonish me not to break Your heart and not to
leave nor forsake You when the cross seems to heavy for me to bear,

I also ask that You please help me to be more open to criticism, correction,
and chastisement especially since this is the way that You show Your love,

For each and every one of us that You love, You also correct!

I also ask that You please help me to be more open to change especially
since this is how we grow and mature and become more like You,

I also ask that You please wean me from the pleasures of the world
especially since I get very attached to things as well as people,

I ask that You please help me to keep my needs ahead of my desires, even
though these needs are only temporary,

I ask that You please remind me that Your grace is all that I really need
and that the greatest joy is indeed to know You,

And no matter how much I know You, I'll never ever be too holy, righteous,
or innocent to ever be told to STOP not only by God and His Angels but also
by all of His people here on earth,

After all, You have send Your only Begotten Son to die not only for my sins
but also for the sins of the whole world,

You only did this because You love each and every single one of us very
dearly and really want us to spend forever with You!!!

And You're more than just a teacher, more that just a Master,
You're a Very Special Friend who I want to spend my entire life with,

You're also a Very Special Friend who I want to keep me grounded and in
my place at all times,

And You're a Very Special Friend who I'd like to remind me to stay close
to You and never let You go!
