POETRY IN MOTION

HONEYSUCKLE HEDGEROWS

It sounds like a picture from a children's book,
But it's a picture in my mind
Of what I saw in childhood days
So long now left behind.

Honeysuckle hedgerows,
Dragonflies and bees,
Brambles, nettles, hazel nuts,
I remember these.

Buttercups and daisies,
Blackberries to pick,
Birds' nests now deserted,
Clumps of all-sorts thick.

And, of course, cow parsley
Between the hedge and road
Where, when the sun went down at night,
The glow-worms....................
.........Well, they glowed.
