It may never be easy for you to forget

It may never be easy for you to forget
what happened to you back then
when you went through all the hurt
and the suffering and all your pain
with no one else around
to protect you from being
mentally and physically abused
for over twenty years

dividers

I have tried to support you
but I can still see
that you are hurting
from everything that you
went through back then

dividers

Hopefully you will be
able to put all of this
behind you some day
so that you will
finally be free

dividers

But I know it wont be any time soon
because every so often I am awakened
in the darkness of night with you screaming

dividers

Because of the  memories
that come back to life again
in your dreams
and every time that it happens to you
you are reminded of your past
through the clouded memories
that you still carry deep within your mind

dividers

And all I can do
is to continue to
try and comfort you
every step of the way

dividers

I am sorry these things happened to you back then
and I wish things could have been different for you
I just want to remind you that you are safe now
because I am your lover
and I am also your best friend
