Camping

Mummy never came with us camping
In our little old ridge pup tent
We just slung our stuff in the boot
And off we randomly just went

At least the kids thought we did
But why spoil their trip
To them we were explorers
And our car a voyaging ship

And we lived on beans and soup
And fish and burgers and fries
All tasting like heavenly manna
Under open blue Yorkshire skies

And we had a little secret
That mummy was never told
We didn't wash too often
‘specially if the day was cold

And we'd explore the Dales together
Saw so many wondrous things
Four year old Luke once thought
He'd found some Fairy wings

Happy days with my boys together
Then home and a scrub and clean
So mummy never knew our secret
When she came back on scene

Mummy never came with us camping
In our little old ridge pup tent
We just slung our stuff in the boot
And off we just randomly went
