DRIVEN
Eagerly, I lunged toward destiny;
she gave me uncertainty
I learned to persist without words.
Confidently, I explored history;
she gave me mockery.
I learned to love without amity.
Unconsciously, I fell upon melancholy;
she gave me inequity.
I learned to weep without tears.
Unwisely, I ran to ecstasy;
she gave me carnality.
I learned to touch without feeling.
Desperately, I looked to my Deity;
He gave me liberty.
I learned to soar without wings.
