AIRFORCE LETTERS SENT TO MOM AND DAD, GRANDMA, JERI
1957 T0 1960 MOM SAVED THEM IN A SHOEBOX
Finding things for a garage sale
Old trophies a garden pail
In the back of the shed caught my eye
In a dresser drawer letters days gone by
Dear Mom and Dad I'm a little homesick
I miss you all and fishing in the creek
Dear Grandma I am sorry to hear about Grandpa
I tried to get leave but the letter came late
Grandpa was a good man heaven could not wait
My next assignment is Korea isn't that great
I sent Grandpa home the binaculars I didn't know
Thinking about it now the tears do flow
Found this Korean boy dying in the street
Brought to base in ambulance feeling some heat
But he would have died without getting care
And lose a stripe this world we share
Just little stories in letters I had sent home
From fifty years ago the world in Airforce I'd known
I was a medic in the emergency room things from the past
I am reading more of the letters from front to last
