Re- adjustments

The Man in The White Coat
Slips quietly into his chair
Suggests I l just forget
He is even there
As the juice that he gave me
Sinks in through that vein
And suddenly I'm not
Feeling my pain

The Man in The White Coat
With the soft speaking voice
That purrs away in my ear
Like a subversive noise
Is saying I don't understand
But I've not to worry
No time limit
Just no need to hurry

The Man in The White Coat
Says I can be me
So long as I behave
In this land of the free
He talks of this State
Tells how it is kind
To let me rest here
And clear out my mind

And the bars on the windows
Are there for the best
So I can feel safe
As I recover and rest
And the juice that they give me
Is just considerate and kind
To lower my resistance to help
Adjust thoughts for my peace of mind

And I sit here pretending
I've killed the old me
So unlock the doors
With that electronic key
And I try to hide that
I really want to slit the throat
To stop the invasive voice
of That Man in The White Coat
