In my recent book of poems and short stories,
"Womb of the Same Mother." I included my first
attempt at writing a children's story, "Foggy Valley!"
This is a continuation of the story, "Foggy Valley",
and so being is the further adventures of Brent, Ryan
and Sidney, with the sad blue eyes, now joined by
new friends and new exploration of things beyond
the Foggy Valley bridge that leads to nowheres.
Foggy Valley being the beginning of new adventures
of children's exploring and parents wishes ignoring.
But then of course there would be no adventures
if children were as safe as parents wanted them to
be and for us life would be so boring. It would begin
with Father Winter snoring.
Warning it is a story about animals and kids I'm
spinning. In any case this is why the first sentence
is beginning, I say with my alley cat Sally who told
me this story sitting on my lap beside me a grinning.
CHAPTER ONE
It seemed only a few years ago, last week it was, our
heroes walked across a bridge to find new adventures
near and far in places beyond Foggy Valley. This is
where they met a strange young alley cat named Sally.
Who on dangerous treks was to lead them through many
a sinister and darkened alley. But as adventures go who
am I to keep a tally? Above yet and below from the marshes
where the biggest frogs and tadpoles played. Where
Ryan and Brent, Sidney was too young, in younger days
did wade, as planning for later days dreams were laid.
To go to a place adults had forbidden them to go, and who
would know, To a land where adventures might be and danger
lay. If not for tomorrow, there was today, for gone is
yesterday. For there they would find new friends, Just
around the corner where the river bends, and far from
winter's bitter winds.

AND DAD."
