As Flame Turns To Ash

Within the flames of what
Are my yesterdays
I search for the answers
To what is to be my life

I am the same
As I have always been
And yet ...

I am so different


I never dreamed I could
So completely love
When I see Joseph's face before me
I am told that the sparkle
Returns to my eyes

He is my world
He is my sunshine


So caught up am I
In the
What should I do's


Answers drifting within my heart
And yet ...
They still cannot be plainly seen


I no longer know if I love
The hurt is getting to where
I can no longer feel the pain

In these moments of
Quiet reflection
I watch the flames
As they turn to ash

I hear whispers of a better
Life for myself and for Joseph



But still too ...
Is the one to be left behind
