Today I'm on a mission
I have something exciting to do
A visit to a friend of mine
Time together, a cup of tea shared
And wonderful plans and things to dicuss
It all started you see.
Out of a story which came out from the depths of me
I wrote it out, eked it out
And asked them to read it then give me a shout
I wanted constructive criticism,
Ideas of where to make changes
Help to show me the way
And they called on me the other day
A coffee shared, a discussion was had
She said she'd read my story
And though I needed a bit more work she was really pleased with me
She was so right and of course I had to agree
So after a while, she left and I got down to writing
Making changes and condensing things.
Making it flow
That was the way I had to go
She gave me some real good ideas,
These I'm working on as we speak
Then she sent me a lovely letter
With an offer I couldn't refuse
11 weeks on a writing course
the fees she's gonna pay
to help me to become a better writer
so I can publish my work one day
I'm so excited that she's going to do this for me
Because it's such a generous gift you see
I need as much help as possible
And this is the next sensible step for me
So this afternoon I'm off to visit
To inform her kind offer I accept
Then all I have to do
Is get myself to do the work and pass the test
