Where would I be if I wasn't me?
Would I be someone rich or poor
If I could choose to be someone other than me
Who would I be? I'm not really sure!

Could I project my thoughts into a realm
Where it is I who is in control of the helm
What would I be like
If I wasn't female, a mother and a wife?
Who would I be
If I wasn't me?
Well I could take my thoughts into fantasy
And consider myself someone brave, a hero of history
I could be just another person getting on with my life
Someone who isn't a mother and a wife
I could be a single person,
With no responsibility
Working a few hours in a day
The rest of the time free to play
Choosing to do whatever I want
Get on a plane having fixed a holiday date
Without having to ask
Is it ok if I go away with my mate
I could be a fantastic artist
Who sells many pieces
Spending time enjoying being shuttered away
Not having to think of the rest of the day
No worries about cooking food on time
Making sure that the clothes are washed and on the line
So worries about making sure the ironing is done
Just enjoying life and having fun?
Who would I be if I wasn't the person I am?
Would I be any different,
Would I work to a different plan?
If I wasn't a wife and a parent
I could be an intrepid explorer
Treking through jungles, extreme reality
I could be someone who discovers
Something of precious enormity
If my life was written in a different score
Perhaps I should have a word with the author
And request a little more
But would I be any more content
If I were someone different
Probably not
So perhaps I should be happy with the life I've got?
