  October's Child

COULD SHE

COULD SHE

She sat inside her thoughts of long ago
Watching gulls nibble pieces of life's odds and ends
Her fingers tracing words into mixed blends
Of things from dreams mingled in the winds

~~~~~~~~~~`~~~~~
Her eyes were brimming, was it the ocean's tears
As she focused on those days from her bygone years
Weaving strands of hope within ethereal spheres
Of times once packaged into sacred souvenirs
~~~~~~~~~~`~~~~~

The water splashed gently weaving its own tales
As she drew in the sand, things placed behind veils
She couldn't go back, nor walk yesterday's trails
But gaze straight ahead gathering her sails

~~~~~~~~~~`~~~~~
She could fade in the mist, or walk the mountain tops
Build castle 'n' clouds with a silvery spoon
Wet her feet in the ocean on a warm afternoon
Or dream of a cruise to sunny Cancun
~~~~~~~~~~`~~~~~

She picked up her blanket, walked back to her car
Could she close the gap from the bluest scar?
Or awaken the sunshine, could she travel that far?
Maybe ride velvet winds as she carries her star

pouvoir elle
She Could
