Possession of the drunk demon
started in the bottle of spirits
with happy hour discounts
at the local dungeon
of concoctions for lost souls
where the door man always knew you by name
because you were always the first patron
to come in and you were always the last one leaving
The bartender always knew what you were drinking
and without even asking the first drink was always on the house
Then the hours would fly by and the night skies
would darken and you would begin to feel no pain
as you sat on your three legged bar stool drinking
what seemed to be like hours on end
The music was loud and the lights were distracting
and as always you would go through a transformation
that would put most people in there coffin
But all you would do is lose all your inhibitions and your sense of timing
and then you would begin to engage in lengthy conversations with the other patrons
never knowing who they were or where they came from
And then the night would quickly come to an end
and the last song of the night would be
happy trails to you and then all the lights would come back on
Because it was that time again to go home
So you would get up off of your bar stool
and you would walk out the door with everyone else
And this is when everything hits you like a ton of bricks
because you are filled with confusion
and you cant even remember where you had parked
But some how you are able to find your car
so you get in it and you have to figure out
how you are going to get to your final destination
Because you know that your whole journey home will be filled with illusions and distractions
But for some reason this time around you are able to get home with out any disruptions
because you were one of the lucky ones to still be among the living
