Only time alone will tell

After everything that I have gone through
please understand if it takes me awhile to trust you

In my life I have dealt with way to many issues
that I really didn't need to go through

And I no longer want to step
through the playground of fools

Because I have already been there
one to many times

I was way to naive

Because I was the foolish one

And I was way to trusting for my own good

But I have learned my lessons well
and some harder then others

That's why I am not as trusting as I used to be

I just wish that I could say that I was as care free
as I would like to be

But it's just not that easy

I have three friends that I can count on one hand

Because I have known them for years on end

I guess I may be one of the lucky ones
to be able to have that many true friends
that I can count on one hand

Hopefully as time goes on

The Lord will bless me
with many new friends

But as the old saying goes

Only time alone will tell
