When the letters stopped coming
and the phone quit ringing
reality started sinking  in
and nothing was ever the same

dividers

Because I knew in my mind

dividers

That my Mother was gone
and I would never hear
her voice on the phone
more or less
be able to see her again

dividers

Because she had gone to Heaven

dividers

But every now and then
I am utterly surprised
when she comes to
visit me in my dreams

dividers

Because I was able to see my Mother one more time
and I always wake up smiling

dividers

Because she came to visit me again
