Pharisaic Zeal
Even though my faith I might,
Of the flesh is in my sight;
So temptation has the chore,
Trying to bait the right lure.
But I try to build a wall,
Before I begin to fall;
And merely lock up my heart,
So Satan cannot impart.
For I know where I am weak,
And Satan knows where to seek;
Since he knows how to appeal,
Unto a pharisaic zeal.
Because in a former life,
That was in the midst of strife;
Satan knew just the right word,
To move in whence it was heard.
Now more righteous than before,
I keep locking up the door;
And have given Christ the key,
So He can enter in me.
