Just happened to be in the neighborhood
Forgetting the bad things remembering the good
The drunken old man living there was not home
Deep in the throes of the ground tomb of unknown
But I could see him his evil ways in my mind
Didn't stay long moved on up the road to unwind
The school grounds that as a child I often played
Have been rebuilt, the gym, the creek I did wade
The woods, the swamp, where with tadpoles we'd play
Are now replaced by new homes on this another day
Out of the brush the field house home away from home
Built in 1934 remains as a landmark memories overblown
Hours after school I played running up and down the court
For if I feared my drunken old man I grew with each sport
There on the playground were children memories being made
Forgetting bad memories in the games that were played
Time to leave forget old memories the good and the bad
One thing not missed in visiting leaving behind that sad
