SWEEP`S JOURNAL

SWEEP`S JOURNAL

Well I finally went to Cornwall
I can tell you that I had a ball,
Although it was a very long way
I was very good I have to say.

On the site we stayed in a chalet
There was plenty of room for me to lay,
I had my basket and my big soft bed
So I had a choice where to lay my head.

Of course we went to Mullion Cove
And down to the harbor we did rove,
I lay down while they watched the sea roll in
The tide was high and it was quite a din.

We went to Lizard Point another day
And it was quite a sight I must say,
They walked me down to the lifeboat
I think they thought I was a mountain goat.

Sennon Cove was a challenge for me
`Cause I have only got short legs you see,
And some of the steps down were quite steep
So I had to sort of take a leap.

Coming back up I got my own back
We took the road instead of the track,
I walked fast back up the steep incline
They couldn`t keep up with that pace of mine.

We walked to St. Michael`s Mount at low tide
Then we had a rest on the castle side,
I`m not as young as I used to be
So the rest was a welcome one for me.

This is my journal for April this year
But no more from me will you ever hear,
I lie in Mum`s garden in eternal sleep
These memories are for my Mum to keep.

My Mum may tell you a story of mine
But they will be her words not mine,
I know she will get upset somewhat
But I know I`ll never be forgot.

From Sweep I died Saturday 30th May 2009
