Come shipmates one and all
Listen whilst I speak
Let me tell you tales
Of the ocean's call
Let me honour her eternal beauty
Nothing does she lack
Her colours darkest blue,
Azure, green and deepest black
The vastness of the ocean
Is something beauteous to behold
No one can fully describe
The wonders that can be told
Strange creatures in her belly
Live out their lives unknowing we exist
Corals, jellyfish, seals and dolphins swim
Whilst great billowing fans in the currents twist
An myriad array of fish to be seen everywhere
Eels hidden amongst rocks, seaweed cloaked
Crabs, lobsters crayfish
Their pincers menacingly wave in the air
Let me whisper too of her tyranny
Of her secret wiles and villainy
Of souls of men captured by her alluring song
The siren's call, a magic too strong
Fathoms down their bodies rot away
Because they heeded her song that day
They listened to the call
Then overboard they did crawl
Starved of sanity
Their minds on fire
Hearing only her magic in their heads
They went en masse to their deaths
But many survive to tell the tale
Round a pint of ale they tell of the ocean's call
They speak lovingly of being afloat
Nothing better than being just a man with his boat
