Poems From The Heart

That Kind of Magic

People say that magic isn't real.
I don't believe people, I've witnessed it firsthand.
I still remember that special night that was so long ago.

We were standing outside, kissing goodbye's as we always did
when it got too late and we had to let go.
We had been staring at the stars.
That was something we both enjoyed...
To look up into the still of night, into the vast universe above
and know that everything was so small compared to it.
It was beautiful.
I remember it was late and a light mist was in the air
We were postponing the good bye, looking for shooting stars instead.
We would see eachother tomorrow but the night would be too long...
There were never enough hours in the day for us to fully enjoy eachother
The silence lingered with the night, inside a dream-like trance
Every now and then a car would pass by and we would hear the whoosh
Or a cricket would start chirping not to interrupt but to play the melody of the night
And we stared at the stars until we met eachothers gaze
I looked inside his dark brown eyes and saw my entire existance
As he looked inside mine, I knew he saw something also because he smiled
and as he smiled, his eyes began to dance-as they always did.
Getting ready to kiss good-bye, I could feel the moment approaching
Him leaning so that my face would meet his instead of his chest
Me standing on the tips of my toes, trying to meet him half way
his strong arms wrapping around my delicate frame
and my arms reaching up to go around his neck, my favorite spot
and then we kissed.
And as his lips met mine, the world stopped spinning.
The mist stopped falling and froze mid-air.
The whooshing of the cars faded aways
Even the Crickets song ended as we shared this moment.

The years pass by and love turns into memories
and he is no longer with me and my existance doesnt dwell in his eyes
yet my heart cannot forget that night
and as I journey and travel down the path of life.
My heart, my soul, my spirit yearns to feel that kind of magic once again.
