How can we fight “evil?”
When “evil” is the budget
We have to live on
And the price
We can
Or cannot afford,
To live on
Or with?
How would Gandhi
Fight this?
People are suffering
But there is no
Central government
To oppose
And to publically
Call out to the carpet,
The brutality.
I can hear
Our forefathers
Crying on the
Other side
Of the veil…
We are Americans
But we are not
One nation,
Unless the Olympics
Are on tv.
The Numbers
Are deciding
All of our fates
Who can be
American
Who cannot
What we eat
If we can at all.
Do others deserve health care
Because one can
Afford their own…
And so on…
There is no head
Of the snake
To cut off.
No enemy to look
Into the eye.
Other than
The mirror.
There is no
Unity of purpose
When people
Think of
Money as being
A limited resource
For which it is
Ok to belittle
One person's
Life over another.
Father Gandhi
Guide us,
Mother Teresa
Show us,
Dr. King
Inspire us,
To defeat the evil
Of the Numbers,
Of low prices,
Which come
At too high
A price…
For Humanity
To abide.
