Midnight Rambles

Waiting

I sit alone in silence, deep
where hopes and dreams find their last sleep
and scattered on the ground below
like fireflies with their fading glow,
memories fade as shadows creep.
The world exists in shades of grey
and along the edges darkness plays,
where night and day are one it seems
that kiss the edge of broken dreams.
Where demons play,
and dark holds sway
where flickering hope no longer gleams...
I'm lost, you see, in shadows bleak.
Beyond the places others seek.
A sea of madness touches sands
that slowly sift through pallid hands.
And slow, the water's ebb and flow
removes my garden row by row
till one day nothing left to see
except the sea surrounding me.
And still I wait with shuttered gaze
Amidst this twisted briar filled maze
above a tear filled crystal sea
it's madness always beckoning me
