This is me
Hi!
I am so pleased that you visited the site. I hope you like what you find here.
My poetry reflects many things, from the everyday, to love and life with a disability.
These poems are part of me now.
Pieces like 'The Road To Nowhere' and 'Please' were written were written whilst I was learning to walk from scratch following major orthopaedic surgery. I was only 14 years old at that time, and apart from the physical battle I had ahead of me, I was at the start of a lifetime's battle with depression.
That doesn't mean to say that all the poems are sad and self-pitying. I don't feel they are.
Life with a disability has given me strength and determination. I think maybe it means that I have a 'different' perspective on things. On the other hand, maybe not! I just know that I'm me, and I try to do the best I can.
My ambition in life is to have a book of my poetry published. So far, that hasn't happened. I hope it does, but, until then I will write for whoever reads them here. I hope you enjoy reading them, as much as i have enjoyed writing them.
Take Care,
Helen.
