Imagine

Imagine

The last trump has sounded, the eastern sky split
May or may not be as we imagined it
But here we are, those alive to see
The return of Christ has come to be
Now imagine we stand in line
To enter heavens gates for all time
You stand there searching through
To find those loved ones closest to you
You see them there all tears and smiles
“Almost there” you say, see you in a while
The line is long but it moves quick
One more in front of you, this is it
My name is Christian, how are you
But the gate keeper won't let you through
Where is Jesus? He'll paid for me
Call for Him and you will see
I did many works in His name
Healed the sick and restored the lame
I also sung loudest, my songs of praise
I was in church service most Sundays
Gave to charity, fed the poor
Visited the prisons and so much more
I will see Jesus, this is a mistake
I'm sure by now He is on His way
So confident in earthly works
All to enjoy the heavenly perks
There He is, now you'll see
But His words to you are depart from me
You worker of iniquity, I know you not
In shock and awe your jaw drops
Imagine the hopelessness at those words
When time as past for you to be heard
Judgment has come, all chances gone
Feel the weight of all that you did wrong
All the wasted time you spent
All the times His word was sent
Deep in your heart you always knew
You didn't follow like He ask you too
The motives that moved you now exposed
Imagine the end of the path you chose
Lord help me to examine my heart
Sanctify my life and set it apart
So I don't have to imagine my standing with you
But know in my heart I will get through
