 Running

Unusual are the circumstances that brings me here to write;
Preparing for the graveyard shift, staying up half the night.
A revelation my failures to God came to rest on my soul;
I was without answers to Him, I simply wished to be in control.

Yet control I had given to a baser sort of fellow within me;
Shutting the door on God's wisdom, not reaching for the key.
Out of breath always, running hard from His protective care;
Without a goal or a purpose, just running, running to nowhere.

I saw clearly last night while sitting up the manic plight of my life;
The pangs of guilt, the poor decisions, the sin, the internal strife.
Without an anchorage, floating around in the tumultuous bay;
Unable to believe my eyes, how far my life had come to stray.

Without power in my life, I became a shadow of my former self;
Becoming a ineffective toy, I was placed on life's dusty shelf.
I stopped and prayed for forgiveness, my legs have grown weary;
Change will take place in my life, or at least this is my theory.
