Black Ol' grandma

Black ol' grouchy grandma
Slaving in a dingy dark kitchen
Ol' ma look at the wild wild west
For a wisp of waning hope

Sunshine on brother Coles back
Black as tar trenched with life
Muscles ripple with every swish
The wheat bows to the sickles might

Black ol' grouchy grandma
Chews on a peace of dry tobacco
Eyes fixed on a different time frame
Where peace and freedom reigns

Lash cracks on pregnant Beckys' back
A new branch for the tree on her back
Peggy's palms touch the ground
In pain pregnant Peggy bites dirt

Black ol' grouchy grandma
Studies tiny white missus in cot
Studies tiny black crawling Toto
Too co lour blind to see the difference

BAM! BAM! BAM! booms in air
Children of the soil bow down like wheat
With them ol' black grandmas' hope
Maybe tomorrow, maybe tomorrow
