 I'm Still Hanging on!

Life has been grand, a gracious  gift from
God's hand. Why does it have to fade like
water in sand?

I feel like a one armed man hanging precariously
from a short rope, slipping,…slipping!
Like a time bomb ticking, ticking at near
its end!

I'm still hanging on…trying not to fall!

The days, weeks, months and years have so
quickly passed leaving me no future to grasp.
The rope tightens, my aging hands… calloused ,
gnarled and slipping , slipping towards that short end.

I'm still hanging on…trying not to fall!

Oh! Where and when did I take hold of this short rope?
Was it yesterday the day before or when I was born
so may years forgone?

I'm still hanging on …trying not to fall!

Some days I just want to let loose, but instead I tighten
my grip, for to fall would mean the end of it all!
Life's is still too precious to make that final call!

I'm still hanging on… still trying not to fall!
