Poetry that thinks out loud

ALL I CAN GIVE

I give a hundred percent, but it's never enough;
The biggest understatement is that life is so tough.
What more can I do? in this life I live;
I have nothing else in reserve left to give.

Within what I do I do the best that I can,
But nothing ever turns out the way that I plan.
I work and I give with all of my heart,
But like a bad dream I am back at the start.

My efforts fall short and I am gripping the edge;
What a long shot from my earlier pledge.
My dreams they were more, Much better than this;
It was meant to be magical when sharing a kiss.

A dream is a dream and that they remain;
Think about it too long and you see you are plain.
It seems within life that you are now stuck;
It seems you'll only make it when riding on luck.
