Poems from my heart

Raven--By Krysta Ray

**She walked the halls at school.
Her thin raven hair caressed the soft pale face below.
When some fell into her face she didn't bother to push it away.
Quiet and shy as she was, no one noticed her until she was gone.
Her parents' only child and yet...she knew she couldn't do it.
Knew she couldn't keep living as if everything was fine.
She tried and struggled for so long, wearing long sleeves to hide the scars,
no one knowing but her.

She would lock herself in her room at night
when she was "doing home work" and
let warm redness slide down her arms.
As the cold hardness worked it's way into her skin,
all the laughing, mockery and pain slid down and disappeared.
She knew it was wrong and yet...she knew she couldn't stop.
Her life was only a mask.
If only someone had noticed and cared about her pain,
perhaps the raven would not have forever nested the one evening with the knife.

**Author's note--this work is completely fictional.
