A Day by the Sea

Steadily all comes into focus,
The gravel path down to the sea,
The cloud free sky afternoon,
Squirrels and gold flecked trees.
Sitting eating sandwiches in light
I could hear the waves nearby
Just a little out of my sight;
But soon I was there on the shore
Warm sand beneath my feet,
The breeze finding my hearts core.
That day I felt so much at peace
Endless water, bare foot paddling;
A brightness that would not fade away
When I wended my way home again
As the shadows waved me goodbye.

In my mind settled this very poem
Waiting for the years to pass by
Knowing that one day in my quiet room
It would see the light of day again.
