Christmas Cheer...
The trolleys squeak
and wobble past -
all piled with useless things -
that no one wants
and no one likes -
and no one
wants to use...
The pretty girls
all baring arms -
and legs
and half their backs -
saunter - glide -
from side to side
and swing their
heels and hips...
The mobile phones
all buzz at once -
and then the men
all curse -
and sneer and scowl
and walk away
to get another beer...
The hum of how -
the cry of why -
the never ending spend -
in eyes and lips
and angry words -
rush round and round -
in chains...
The baby girls -
all decked in pink -
and little bits of bling -
tantrum by
with put on cry
adorned in crystal tears..
It must be done -
it's what we do -
'cos it's been done this way -
for years and years
and then before -
we really have no choice....
The tills chime on -
the parcels scrunch -
the nerves all fray
and knot -
as all around
the madness screams
and cries it's
christmas cheer...
