 Turning Away From the Moment
Without acceptance of what is,
I refuse to acknowledge the present.
This is not the true place I belong;
I deserve a better fate than this.
I close my eyes to the reality before me,
Turning away from the moment.
I escape to a world of fantasy
Where everything is perfect;
My mind is satisfied with this creation.
Ease comes over me as I enter into a lie,
Ignoring the true reality of my life;
Turning away from the moment.
Past and future are only within my head,
As the truth exists in the present.
Either I accept it, or I run and hide;
For all that is real is this present moment.
How long must I live my life in this dream,
Turning away from the moment.
I am resigned to recognize the reality of now;
I may not like it, but it is what it is.
I turn into the light of the present;
I ride the wave as long as I can stay balanced.
After all, this is my life, I might as well enjoy it;
Accepting the reality of the moment.
