 The Stillness of the Moment
The swirl of thoughts surround my head
With this rushing of the winds of my mind;
Clamoring for my complete attention.
Shouting if I even think of looking within;
The monkey swings from tree to tree,
Chattering loudly as havoc rains down on me.
Deep inside my soul, I crave something special.
I seek to separate from my past and my future,
To lay aside the storyboard of my life.
Desiring to reach out to make peace with the present;
I begin to settle down along a peaceful stream of thoughts.
I enter the stillness of the moment.
I am now fully present, no longer pulled by my past;
Not lured ahead to the planned future of possibility.
Simply still… living and breathing in the present;
Without judgments, I enjoy the reality of what is.
Not with questions, not with restraint;
Fully embracing the colors of this wave of time.
Refreshed in the pool of creativity of the moment;
Held by the mesmerizing glory of God's universe.
I simply worship in awe and in peace;
Deeper into the well of self I dip out the contents.
I continue to empty the junk that binds me to my ego;
I enter the stillness of the moment.
21Dec09
Heavy snows slowed me down enough to be still.
