Poetry For Everyday People

Last I Heard I Was Lonely

There's a sad song playing
my heart can't take right now
you know the world don't stop
even if a man's down down down
last I heard I was lonely
sitting in a bar downtown

booze don't heal it forgets baby
stops time for a little ol' while
give me enough room to breath
without the pain of passin' time
last I heard I was lonely
sitting in a bar downtown

gotta job but I make no money
neon lights swim in my eyes
there' a place open all night
pouring drinks that tell good lies
last I heard I was lonely
sitting in a bar downtown

tell them if they wanna see me
I'll be at Gypsy's all night long
the blues here don't forget me
they remember what I can't recall
last I heard I was lonely
sitting in a bar downtown
