 Down by the flowing river
Down yonder, by the flowing river
In green pastures and skies of blue
In a meadow full of buttercups
Is where once i lay with you.

Upon the grass so green and pure
We lay there side by side
We watched the birds as they flew by
Our feelings could not be denied

The minutes seemed a lifetime
Down in that pastures green
Memories are etched here in my mind
Of such beauty, such a wonderful scene

We could have stayed forever
Like now forever in my heart
But sadness came and tortured me
It tore our forever love apart

There's no bitterness inside me
Or words that are left unsaid
I cant go back, i must move on
For my love you are truly dead

Down by that flowing river
In pastures green with you
Is a memory that i shall cherish
Forever my whole life through.
