They came together in one dark hour
The legions of Babylon to lay waste
They brought with them from hell such power
The strong and the brave they humbled in haste
There was fear, and cries, and whispers in the city
As death crawled forth to claim its prize
And the sun and sky both darkened in pity
For it was final then when someone dies
In a silent secret room the faithful few
Pined in deep despair and heavy heart
There was nothing that they could do
To keep their faith not falling apart
In a cross between thieves he was proclaimed
The ‘King of the Jews' and crowned in shame
They mocked and jeered till he finally died
And no one dared openly repeat his name
How they laughed that day together
The evil spirits that saw him die
Death was their shackle forever
A special prison for the Most High
But the Mystery was then completely revealed
Like a wondrous rose it blossomed in light
It was spoken in heaven that which was sealed
And carried in the wings of Angels in flight...
Oh perfect sacrifice for the sins of man
Complete and full atonement for all!
In dreadful fear the spirits fled and ran
Shocked to know He now stood tall
Through ages long of desert wandering
The Promised Land we'll finally see
But still the Spirits keep muttering
Destroying kindred souls for eternity
Oh sing with me the glory songs of old
And praise the Lord of heaven and earth
Oh hear the greatest story ever told
How God with mortals shares his worth
Sweet victory certain is and sure
For the lowest graves and the highest stars
His peace and love will forever endure
And no more tears, and no more wars
