One snowflake lands quietly on the ground
I hear not one whisper, no not one sound.
Another snowflake soon joins the ranks
until snow covers all and piles up in banks.
All is still here everything's turned white
blanketing and disguising every slight.
Watching and waiting their eyes do glow
with anticipation they're gauging the snow.
Can a snowman be built I wonder they say.
One wants to try out their new toy, the sleigh.
With coats still unbuttoned outside they go
regardless of the fact that cold winds do blow.
Ignoring their red noses and mittens they've lost
they play and romp amid snowflakes and frost.
Snow angels decorate the front yard and back.
Here lie their footprints where they did track.
Now starlight dances across hill and dale
adorning nature's woven mystical veil
and the wee ones watch from their window
as the moonlight kisses the new fallen snow.
