My Road To Salvation
This one was very hard to write
In mind pictured my soul His fight
A child now man who knew not sin
Would be the key to our salvation
A peaceful man with good intent
Would come now forth, He GOD had sent
To walk unlike and love me then
There before a crowd condemned
They chose not Him but one shameless
They chose me thief, liar, nameless
Before the son of man who came
To take my sin, to take my blame
I was there to watch demise
Become His start before my eyes
Flogged unlike, unseen before
Bleed for me by flesh whips tore
Graphic, no sense of mercy there
The stripes upon His body bared
More blood than eyes would see on body
Raining from flesh for everybody
I stood behind but close enough
To see Him rise, again rise up
As if to say, all this I do
So you wont have to do this too
Each strike upon his frame was mine
Each limb that gave was for all time
When all was done and said this day
I chose to leave, just walk away
Beyond ahead He'd carry more
Upon His back my cross He bore
To certain death, I would drive nails
Through hand and feet on wood impaled
Yet still with lack of love for Him
He cried Father and took my sin
To wash me of all wrong I've done
To know today He calls me son
Today my mind again returns
To that dark day, to take my turn
To feel in thought what He would do
For me, for all and yes you too
