Burning a bridge can light the way
To an unseen path or a bright new day
You can retreat from troubled men
Just listen; your heart will tell you when…
Then walk from dark times toward new light
Bury your history with the night
Take the chance to forge life your way
Don't let your mistakes determine today
Lift your head, the passage is clear
When you do what is right you need not fear
If you take a stumble or two,
Just pick yourself up with resolve anew
To endeavor all that much keener
Towards attaining a peaceful demeanor
Some may chaff and won't comprehend
As above the fray you start to ascend
Others will try to pull you down
Keep moving forward with no need to frown
Just burn those bridges come what may
Resplendent fires kindle to make way
For a life that you will be proud of
Overflowing with hope and filled with love!
