In Gods Hands
A second tour upon his mind
Brings closer those He'll leave behind
Two sons, small versions just like him
Wife, church family, CHRIST saved from sin
The winds of change knock on his door
To serve again as like before
To see life end before his eyes
To pray once more for those who died
He kneels before our GOD today
On altar floor as is his way
On sands foreign soon far away
Kneeling again to GOD, He'll pray
Bless me father for time has come
To fight again, the evil one
That scourges man upon this land
That kills, destroys, against me bands
There is no thrill in war where death
Becomes new friend we have not met
For in your hands I compel my soul
To have if you so choose to hold
You know my heart where serve I do
Back home where sin I lived once too
Yet in your wisdom you saw a son
One more to love in your Kingdom
My hearts concerned for those I love
I pray you watch from throne above
For if we fall and not return
Please help my family to discern
The ways of man are not your ways
This war now mine, ignites to save
Another child and family member
Just like my own, hatred dismembers
Guide me through each step I take
Forgive, change hearts and help me make
A better world, where your face shines
Upon each soul that looks at mine
Today once more I'll look around
Before I leave from my home town
Enchanted Island, born and raised
To you oh Lord, I give all praise
Dedicated to US Army Staff Sergeant Damian Mercado who leaves for his second tour of duty.
GOD bless and God speed.
