The Flower
You came to me one day
The sun was shining in the sky
And the wind was blowing strong
With waves of passion in its wings...
You touched my joyful heart
With something tender and so sweet
It felt like magic and a dream
And every breath was a sound of love...
But then you vainly plucked it
Snapped it from its stream of life
And now it withers and slowly dies-
A broken flower in the ground...
I dream of days and nights
When love was always all around me
The dewy morns of sparkling spring
And a thousand butterflies around me...
The skies so deep and blue
The heavens smiled to watch us bloom
And the birds there singing their songs
The same love songs of a thousand years...
And happy voices too like yours
Excited and awed by the beauty of us all
A moment we wished would never end
A moment we now know could never last...
It hurts to be pulled apart
To be blown away by the aching wind
Each wrinkled piece of me dragged away
Is a broken dream that never will be...
