“God that's so weird”
And so it is
“That's normal”
And so it is…
Speak it and
Make it so…
So real that
Neurons in your body
Rewire to reinforce it.
“God! I'm so forgetful,
I can't remember anything!”
And so you cant!
“I'm so stupid! I always do that!”
and so you will,
so watch what you say!
Your body is always
Listening,
Like little children
Who say “!@?”
And you wonder where
The heck they learned that
From…
It was you.
“God”
such an incredible
word, full of power,
mystery, misunderstanding,
traps, bigotry,
fundamentalism, faith,
hate…
to trip an entire world
into thinking
they are separate
& different
from one another,
to the point
that they have
murdered over it
healed with it…
“God!” get over it!
It's just a f'ing
Word!
Yet words form
Our thoughts
And therefore
Our reality…
Whatever “God”
Really is
Is WAY bigger
Than three scrawled
Characters
On a piece of paper
… and yet.
If I take any book
And replace “god” with
A word that is embraced
By its reader…
Like the story
Of my life…
And Exchanged
the word
“Divine” for “God”
Then thousands
Will embrace my life
Who would otherwise be put off.
If I took out “God”
And put in “universe”
Or “Collective consciousness”
Then more still would
Just consider it…
What if I changed
“Collective Consciousness”
For “Allah.” How many
More would be touched
By it who would
Never read it,
Or be touched by it.
& all over one word…
Thought of as so
Many different things.
What is in a word?
The word that twists
Your guts?
You know the one
When it's misused,
Overused, over generalized,
Black,
White,
Or Good, bad
Frack,
Oh, THAT?
What did you
MEAN by that?
You know the one
Your mother
Or father uses
Like Fingernails
Down a chalkboard
Because they are
Playing those little
Passive aggressive games?
“Oh, I don't mind…”
“Much.”
And that one little
Word is like a bomb going
Off in the past
Blowing up in
The present
Filled with
Guilt and abuse
And so many connotations
You swear its
The last time
You are going
To come back here
And be subjected
To their needling,
Judgmental
CRAP!!
And a 13 year old
Developmentally
Disabled Boy
Yells at you when he's
angry
“Crazy” or “stupid”
Because
They are the meanest
Things he can imagine
Calling you,
Because they are things
People call him.
Words are power.
They have the power
To give to the people
And the power to take
Them away…
If you let them,
They can Empower you
Like an 18 year old
Future Pulitzer Prize,
Nobel Peace Prize
Winner
As she sat in front
Of me today,
Telling how
She's afraid
Of being called “crazy”
Too…
She's afraid of being thought of like
Her mother,
And I tell her
The world is “Sick”
& has messed up
Ideas about what
It means to be sane
In a f'ed-up world,
Where “crazy” is a compliment
Because it means
You haven't bought
Into
The BS.
And she smiled
Because I changed the way
She saw one little word
And it changed her world.
Now her words
Have power
& she's going
to change the world with them.
